19472221919<p>Photograph signed "W. Somerset Maugham" in black ink on the mount of a striking portrait of Maugham from the chest up with him leaning his cheek on his right hand. Signed in full. The photograph is stamped "Pirie MacDonald Photographer-of-Men New York." The image measures approximately 6" x 9" and is affixed to MacDonald's original mounting board which measures 11" x 14". On the back of the board is imprinted an array of information of MacDonald's awards and accomplishments and address. A further affixed label indicates this photograph of Maugham was taken in 1935 and signed by him in 1947. An excellent and rare "soft focus" image. Very good.</p> unknown books

The boards are of wood with an inset medallions of Sarah Bernhardt in her role as "La Princesse Lointaine" after the illustration by Alphonse Mucha. With; publisher's slipcase.
