The publisher's "Special Autographed Copy" sheet is affixed to the front flyleaf signed by Erich Hartmann Col. Ray Toliver and Trever Constable. Author's signature and inscription in black ink on the half-title page as well. There is an impression on the upper edge of the front panel wear to the lower edges some exposure of the inner hinges. Unclipped pictorial jacket has wear to the extremities in mylar sleeve. The book is dedicated to the life and career of the German fighter pilot of World War II Erich Hartmann. He brought down 352 enemy aircraft during World War II and considered one of the greatest fighter pilots. Taken prisoner by the U.S. Army he was turned over to the Russians and spent ten years in Soviet jails. The book raised questions about certain historical facts in the book and the authors sympathetic attitude towards Hartmann tipping into "hero worship". Size: Octavo. Doubleday Hardcover
