2024120658Lima: Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano ICPNA; Museo del Grabado Peruano ICPNA 2024. b/w and color plates facs. ports. chron. cat. color pict flsg. wrps. Accompanies the exhibition organized by the Museo del Grabado ICPNA Lima from June 13th. to September 14th 2024. The exhibition catalogue seeks to publicize the development of the Peruvian avant-garde during the years 1925 to 1965 with engraving being the most important expressive medium for its dissemination presenting the graphic art of more than 100 engravers with a special section dedicated to José Sabogal. Thus in the north center and south of Peru spaces were opened for the dissemination of engraving through avant-garde magazines such as Amauta Boletín Titikaka Kosko Jarana and Cunan among others; as well as book covers and illustrations. Engraving manifested itself in Peru as an original look that although it was based on European influence such as modernism expressionism or naïve art soon delimited its own references by taking local elements such as Incaism primitivism costumbrismo and popular art becoming an expanded avant-garde. In this way it is about evidencing the creative process of engraving; that is the dialogue with the painting itself its affective links present in the dedications and the step towards institutionality in educational centers. ENGLISH AND SPANISH TEXTS. LIMITED EDITION OF 300 COPIES. Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano, ICPNA; Museo del Grabado Peruano, ICPNA unknown
