Litografia della serie di caricature disegnate da Honoré Daumier (Marseille, 1808 - Valmondois, l879), il celebre pittore, litografo, disegnatore, scultore, per il noto quotidiano politico-satirico parigino Le Charivari (la litografia appartiene alla serie intitolata Les Gens de Justice). 1. Litografie appartenenti alla serie intitolata "Ces bons autrichiens", che riunisce 30 caricature di H. Daumier (1808-1879) riferite alla campagna d'Italia del 1859, sostenuta a fianco dell'armata piemontese estratte da vari numeri del "Charivari". 1. Tu viens m'annoncer la victoire? Un generale austriaco tende speranzoso le braccia ad un uffuciale che corre verso di lui, piuttosto con l'aria di fuggire il nemico che non per portare la notizia della vittoria! Uno zuavo si rivolge scherzosamente ad un camerata che indossa una giubba bianca austriaca con livrea da cuoco. Hazard & Delteil, n. 3009: III/3. I due personaggi che agiscono nella scena sono i protagonisti ricorrenti in tutta questa serie di caricature di Daumier, ispirata ai raggiri e alle trappole tese da disinvolti pseudo-finanzieri agli ingenui loro vittime. Mentre Robert Macaire sta in ascolto dietro una tenda violacea, a sinistra, il suo compare Bertand illustra con pittoreschi termini culinari il fallimento di un affare andato a male ai malcapitati azionisti radunati ad ascoltarlo. The sale consisted of original Honore Daumier lithographs from the Collection Rene G.- D. This was the 'Deuxieme Vente'. 426 lots in the sale. Many illustrated in black & white.
