Rops works hold a mirror to contemporary society exposing its repressive standards and moral contradictions. This is held on passe partout measuring 50cm x 40cm. Signed in the plate. A beautiful example of this haunting image. Both image and passe partout are in excellent condition. Label with print information to the reverse of the passe partout in German. Félicien Victor Joseph Rops 1833–1898 was a Belgian artist associated with Symbolism and the Parisian Fin-de Siecle. He was a painter illustrator caricaturist and a prolific and innovative print maker particularly in intaglio etching and aquatint. This image "La grève" The Strike 1876 etching drypoint 19.8 x 15.2 cm now held in the Michael C. Carlos Museum Emory University Atlanta. . Héliogravure originale tirée de « L'homme et l'artiste ». L'un des 175 exemplaires existants. L'image mesure 19 cm x 155 cm sur une feuille de 25 cm x 195 cm. Elle est montée sur un passe-partout de 50 cm x 40 cm. Signée dans la plaque.
