An exceptional copy marked 'Hors Tirage' and including all of Hermann-Paul's original drawings.From the edition limited to 300 copies with this unique example inscribed 'hors tirage originaux' and including all of Hermann-Paul's original drawings for the work each initialled 'HP' in pencil.As well as all 51 of the drawings for the book executed in ink and initialled by Hermann-Paul in pencil many of these also feature pencil attributions as to place by the artist the imprint for the cover has been effaced and marked 'Chez / l'Auteur' presumably by Hermann-Paul himself the justification has been altered to reflect this unique copy marked 'Hors tirage originaux' as above and the title imprint has been effaced; the original illustrations for the covers have also been included together with a version of the title itself executed in ink.The vignette for the rear cover is inscribed in pencil by Hermann-Paul as follows: 'croquis pour le cul de lampe de l'album 'Sur le Rhône' / c'est le St. Nicolas patron des bateliers du Rhône qui est au / Musée d'Arles. / Hermann-Paul'. Signed J.D. to the base of the spine. Binder's label to the verso of the marbled end paper. Original soft covers bound in. These are a touch darkened but sound. 87 numbered full page caricatures printed to recto of each leaf. René Georges Hermann-Paul 1864-1940 designed caricatures for L'assiette au Beurre Le Sourire Je suis partout. 20cm x 14cm. . Un très bel exemplaire de cette première édition. Relié dans une belle reliure art nouveau de Randeynes en demi-cuir avec titres dorés et motifs estampés à froid au dos. Les plats sont marbrés.
