196874182N.p.: N.p. ca. 1968. Modern working collection of over 100 original stencils tracings and hand painted samples of Federal furniture decorations. All laid in enveloped or taped into a modern three ring binder. These were used for furniture projects mainly chairs so signs of use are to be expected. A treasure trove for researchers and practitioners.Up until the 1840s stencils were widely used in America for walls and furniture. The use of stenciling declined as wallpaper became more economically viable as a decorative finish but it did not die out entirely. This collection dates from the 1960s and the designer perhaps named M. Robertshaw has taped in two pages of the catalog of stenciled American Federal furniture by Hitchcock Chair Company of Connecticut so it is likely he worked there. In 1818 Lambert Hitchcock founded an innovative chair company in the northwestern hills of Connecticut where he produced beautiful hand stenciled furniture. The company was ver successful and didn't close its doors in 2006 although it has recently been revived. N.p. unknown

Contemporary black limp simulated leather post-binder rounded corners nickel-plated screw posts at inner gutter margin minor edgewear slight soiling some rubbing still VG exemplar w/ images all having bright strong contrast. This salesman sample photo catalogue of Mid-Century Modern cabinetry was apparently produced for a Seattle based manufacturer offering a wide range of products. The photos encompass Scandinavian Modern-inspired kitchen cabinets with very clean lines stylish hardware and laminate countertops; an entire array of counters display cabinets and sales counters for a Seattle Pharmacy including night shot showing the sales floor through the glass brick lined door showing the prescription counter products on the shelves pharmacist and assistant as well as the soda fountain counter fitted with a Coca Cola Multiplex dispenser. Also included are photos of several styles of glass-fronted display cabinets the window casements for a florist shop and a beautifully created bedroom set featuring his & hers twin beds each with built-in radio vanity and stylish dressers. Of special interest are the series of images of a post-World War II sporting goods store fitted with knotty-pine cabinetry all filled with displays of fishing gear a Martin 60 Outboard Motor ca. 1946-47 fishing tackle hunting rifles and shotguns cartridge boxes tennis rackets taxidermy trophies for deer and elk racks and much more. Dudley Sr. 1895-1954 began his career as a photographer with Walter Miller 1877-1938 who had apprenticed and partnered with Asahel Curtis in Seattle and later set up his own Dorpat Studio in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer Building. Dudley bought out the business in the mid-1930s and would continue working the business until his death in 1954 followed by his son Roger Dudley Jr. who had joined the firm in 1945. 1902FURNITUR007482Bernard Quaritch London. 1902. First edition. Folio. pp vi 84. 74 photographic plates by Eustace Calland. Original parchment-backed grey-blue cloth lettered in black on the spine. Top edge gilt. Printed on laid paper. An architectural gem Parnham House was built during the reign of Elizabeth I and redesigned by John Nash in the early nineteenth century. It was utterly destroyed in 2017 when the owner Michael Treichl was thought to have deliberately set fire to the place. He committed suicide a couple of months later. Free endpapers lightly tanned.
