20091002088NEW ~ This volume brings together a wealth of documents about and images of Mexican composer and pianist Ricardo Castro who dominated the Porfiriato during an era of prevailing French influence. Born in Durango 1864 his first opera <i>Atzimba</i> 1900 broke new ground with lyrics about Mexican themes. He became director of the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica in 1907 and died that same year leaving a prodigious production including his famous <i>Vals capricho</i>. 215pp. Illustrations.
