Set of five 5 vintage original 8 x 10" 20 x 25 cm. black-and-white double weight matte finish photos. Very minor corner wear and some with tiny pinholes at corners about fine. </em></p><p>When Buster Crabbe lost out to fellow Olympic swimmer Johnny Weissmuller in playing Tarzan at MGM Paramount came up with this competitive story. It was Buster's first feature film and the studio photographers wasted little time in presenting photography of his physique which bared nearly all and would not be tolerated once the Production Code was enforced.</p><p>This series of images introduced moviegoers to Crabbe. Minor corner creases and wear to all. One has chip at top right corner another has chip at bottom left corner. Overall very good. </em></p><p>Four photos in a series called "How To Swim in Nine Easy Lessons". The series includes nine photos as indicated; present are numbers 1 6 8 and 9. Each has a blurb printed on the verso explaining the swim technique which Buster is demonstrating. They were used to publicize his appearance in the Paramount film <em>Tip Off Girls</em>. The Olympic swim champ was popular and utilized in film for his physique more so than his acting talents but he did make for an iconic Flash Gordon.</p><p>From the Kenneth Anger collection but not stamped. Anger may have been planning a beefcake storyline for one of his books or just liked collecting beefcake photos of the stars.</p><p>Photos coded P1498-240 241 243 248.</p> Paramount

Sixteen have mimeographed text on verso some have old photo agency stickers. Two have writing in margins. Overall near fine.</em></p><p>A remarkably substantial group of photos from this film which came near the end of Erich von Stroheim's career as a director. Set in Vienna in 1914 this was one of Stroheim's regular forays into the world of decadent European aristocracy.</p> Paramount

Card is in impeccable condition fine. </em></p><p><em>Tabu</em> was the great German director F. W. Murnau's last film he died shortly before its premiere due to a car accident and one of the final masterpieces of silent film. Murnau traveled to Bora Bora with documentary filmmaker Robert Flaherty with whom he worked on some early versions of the script but disputes arose and Flaherty bowed out. Wikipedia</p><p>Lobby cards from this film are genuinely rare. This card with the film's two protagonists in the center turns up almost never.</p> Paramount

Strips of non-restoration brown paper on verso overall just about fine. </em></p><p>Director Josef von Sternberg's last silent film <em>The Case of Lena Smith</em> is ranked by film historians as among the lost masterpieces of the silent era and the holy grail for archivists who sift through film repositories. In 2003 Japanese film historian Komatsu Hiroshi unearthed a four-minute fragment of <em>The Case of Lena Smith</em> in Manchuria China reviving interest in the film. There are light signs of use at blank corners about fine. </em></p><p>Marlene Dietrich was the true writer of the screenplay for this opus which took her from wealth to ruin to rags to fame to wealth again. The censors crossed out so much of her material even in the pre-Code period that by the time a final script was approved she and director/mentor Joseph von Sternberg had little interest in making the film. They came through though with a brilliant odyssey highlighted by Dietrich in many moods all behind heavy diffusion.</p><p>Here is Dietrich as the down-and-out vagrant Helen Faraday with Sidney Toler as the detective on her trail. This card which is more than a hundred years old is in exceptional condition fine. </em></p><p><em>The Sheik</em> which co-starred Rudolph Valentino with Agnes Ayres was Valentino's breakthrough film in which he emerged as one of the great romantic lead actors of the silent era.</p><p>Here we have a beautifully colored scene with Ayres.</p> Paramount

The original attached paper blurb on verso calls it a "He and She" bracelet designed by Hobe. A picture of "he" and "she" can be inserted in the hearts. There is a tape repaired tear at the bottom right near the corner. There is a plastic hanging hook at the top center of the image. Andrew Roy Gibb 5 March 1958 – 10 March 1988 was an English singer and songwriter. He was the younger brother of Barry Robin and Maurice Gibb musicians who had formed the Bee Gees during the late-1950s. Andy Gibb was never a major member of the Bee Gees but had his own solo career as well as being a member of other groups over time. Gibb came to prominence in the late-1970s through the early-1980s with eight singles reaching the Top 20 of the US Hot 100 three of which went to No. 1: "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" 1977 "Love Is Thicker Than Water" 1977 and "Shadow Dancing" 1978. In the early 1980s he co-hosted the American music television series Solid Gold. He also performed in a production of The Pirates of Penzance and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Gibb would later have substance use problems and depression. He died on 10 March 1988 aged 30. Gibb dropped out of school at the age of 13 and with an acoustic guitar given to him by his older brother Barry he began playing at tourist clubs around Ibiza Spain when his parents moved there and later on the Isle of Man his brothers' birthplace where his parents were living at the time. Gibb was nominated for two Grammy Awards at the 20th Annual Grammy Awards.37 He was also nominated for two American Music Awards. The Bee Gees were a musical group formed in 1958 by brothers Barry Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful in popular music in the late 1960s and early 1970s and later as prominent performers in the disco music era in the mid-to-late 1970s. The group sang recognizable three-part tight harmonies: Robin's clear vibrato lead vocals were a hallmark of their earlier hits while Barry's R&B falsetto became their signature sound during the mid-to-late 1970s and 1980s. The group wrote all their own original material as well as writing and producing several major hits for other artists and are regarded as one of the most important and influential acts in pop-music history. They have been referred to in the media as The Disco Kings Britain's First Family of Harmony and The Kings of Dance Music. Brother Andy Gibb contributed to the group and its success. Released in 1968 this started Michael York Susan George and Jeremy Kemp. It is based on the 1966 novel by former Metropolitan policeman and private investigator Bernard Toms. This poster is for the Mexican release of the film. Clean card with some edgewear and nicking to the edges. The car is cur a little tight to the edge at the top and left edge. Still an attractive card that could be nicely framed. 31.5cm x 41cm. . Première édition. Une jolie carte de lobby mexicaine pour la sortie en langue espagnole du film britannique "The Strange Affair". Sorti en 1968 ce film met en scène Michael York Susan George et Jeremy Kemp. Jimmy Starr 1902 - 1990 is best known as a Hollywood columnist though he was also a writer and actor known for The Corpse Came C.O.D. 1947 A Night for Crime 1943 and Pink Pajamas 1929. Some of the March and April 1935 Paramount Studios films Mr. Starr may have enjoyed include such popular productions as Ruggles of Red Gap starring Charles Laughton Mary Boland Charlie Ruggles and Zasu Pitts winner of the Oscar for Best Picture Love in Bloom starring George Burns and Gracie Allen Mississippi starring Bing Crosby W.C.
