1874756Chicago: Warner & Beers 1874. 14 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. Very good condition. This is a map of one of the more important townships of Illinois. It is winfield Township home of Turner's Junction. The first railroad junction in Illinois. The town is now called West Chicago Il. The Galena & Chicago Union Railroad opened from Chicago to Turner in 1849 with the intent of going through Elgin on its way to Galena. The railroad only made it to Freeport. This sure the development of several branches. The Aurora Branch Railroad joined the Galena at Turner and became the first railroad junction in Illinois. This is shown on the map where the C&NW RR Galena & Chicago Union Railroad meets up with the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Aurora Branch Railroad. This map is an exceptional graphic representation of that fact. Warner & Beers unknown

It reflects the dense rail network in place east of the Mississippi River. Warner and Beers were county atlas producers based in Chicago. This map has four maps on the. verso. There is a German population in the united states based on the 1870 census; b Irish Population; cIndiana Senatorial Districts; d Representative districts. 18399394<p>This is a terrific condition antique Connecticut print framed and hand-colored. Original 1839 wood engraving by John Warner Barber. The engraving is titled "SOUTH VIEW OF NORWICH CITY CON." and is hand-colored. Wooden frame with a wire securely attached at the back for hanging. A highly attractive piece perfectly suitable for display. John Warner Barber was one of Connecticut's early historians a prolific engraver and author. He is best known for his vivid detailed chronicles of early 19th-century American life. Operating before the era of widespread photography he traveled extensively across the eastern United States to document townscapes landmarks and local history through meticulous wood and steel engravings. The frame measures 16 1/8" wide x 13 1/8" tall. Professionally framed by "Einhorn Galleries" in Connecticut per the label on the back.<br /><br />Condition:<br />The picture is in overall Near Fine condition and would make for an excellent display piece. The engraving is clean with no notable issues found. The frame is in terrific condition with no issues found. A wonderful display piece.</p>

The coastal mountain range isolates more complex settlement in the western parts of Oregon and Washington. The areas east of the mountain range are highlighted by the notation of Great Plain of the Columbia. The Alaska map shows the extent of Seward's Folly of 1867. In its simple presentation the map is on a smaller scale disguising the enormity of the Territory of Alaska. This is comparatively difficult map to find. Warner & Beers unknown

Red page edges black endpapers 176 pages.</p><p>Personal essays in the outdoors of the Adirondacks including his most famous ones <em>How I Killed a Bear A Fight with a Trout </em>and <em>A Hunting of Deer</em>. The stories are told with humor social satire and with admiration and empathy for wildlife.</p><p>Condition is Very Good: Mild bumping and wear to the covers. There is a penciled name and the date 1878 one the front blank page in front of the title page else clean and unmarked. The front free endpaper is starting otherwise all pages are intact and the binding is strong.</p><p>Charles Dudley Warner 1829-1900 was an American essayist novelist and friend of Mark Twain with whom he co-authored the novel <em>The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today.</em>Warner was a prolific writer who published about 15 volumes of his own standalone works during his lifetime - novels travel books biographies and essays and memoirs. Text is good. No former owner marks. Volumes are secured and consolidated in an archival acetate jacket. Warner 1763-1857 was an English clergyman Curate of Bath and writer of a considerable number of topographical books based on his walks and his interest in antiquarianism. The present volumes represent a first hand account of a wide range of environmental cultural antiquarian and economic observations and insights. Illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of the author.
