James Bigglesworth that most iconic of aviation adventurers was created by W.E. Johns for the first issue of Popular Flying magazine published in April 1932 and popular he certainly was and still is! In April 1960 Granada began showing its now barely remembered Biggles TV programme which meant that the character could now legitimately appear in TV Express Weekly some five months later. It began as the cover feature for the first few issues and was drawn by the great Ron Embleton. When Embleton left the strip the art was taken over by Mike Western and it moved to the interior pages.
