"First published in 1881 by The Century Company of New York City The Century initially focused on current events and illustrated historical series and was aimed at upper-class American men. Over its publication history the focus of articles changed but it continued to boast high-profile literary and political contributors. Under Glen Frank's editorship from 1921-1925 The Century was popularized by its editorials on current events and cut back on prior illustrative features.
