And that is because the lead-off entry in this anthology of stories is Frank Norris' "Travis Hallett's Half-back." Norris 18701902 was class of '94.<br>Â Â Â Â => It may interest the reader to know that half of the writings in this volume are by women.<br>Â Â Â Â Sole edition. The volume was a fund-raising effort: "The principal reason that these stories have been gathered together and given to the public is to start a fund wherewith to erect a fountain on the Campus of the University of California to be in harmony with the great Hearst architectural plan."<br>Â Â Â Â Binding: Publisher's blue cloth stamped in gilt with title and a scene of a rolling hill with trees on it.
