Auf Empfehlung meines Pfarrers und meines Religionslehrers bekam ich die Stuttgarter Jubiläumsbibel zur Konfirmation geschenkt; sie hat mich das ganze Leben begleitet. Im Lichte von über 50 Jahren Lebenserfahrung und Kenntniserweiterung ist jedoch zu sagen. Manches ist einfach nicht mehr zeitgemäß oder wirkt unfreiwillig makaber. Wenn zum Beispiel als Gottes Gericht über staatliche Überheblichkeit Napoleons Untergang von Moskau genannt wird mag das dem wilhelminischen Zeitgeist geschuldet sein im Angesicht von Auschwitz lässt es den Intellekt gefrieren. Vieles was über die katholische Kirche gesagt wird ist im Sinne der ökumene einfach unhaltbar. Manches wirkt unfreiwillig komisch wenn über die Masturbation die immer noch an dem Frevel Onans festgemacht wird dazu bestimmt ist manches "junge Leben im Aufblühen zu vergiften". Oder die Vorherrschaft des Mannes zwar als im tiefsten Sinne durch Christo als überwunden gilt jedoch nach wie vor "zurecht besteht". Da wird die Stuttgarter Jubiläumsbibel sogar verfassungswidrig.
