Präses.: Wilhelm Gottfried Ploucquet /1744-1814 Arzt ist am 20. December 1744 in Röthenberg Würtemberg geboren. Er hatte in Tübingen Medicin studirt und war daselbst auf Grund einer Dissertation "De vi corporum organisatorum assimilatrici" 1766 promovirt worden. Im Jahre 1782 wurde er zum Prof. ord. der Medicin an der Universität in Tübingen ernannt und in dieser Stellung ist er bis zu seinem am 12. Januar 1814 erfolgten Tode verblieben. Ploucquet ist durch zwei litterarische Arbeiten bekannt durch eine kleine Schrift "Nova pulmonum docimasia" 1782 in erweiterter Form unter dem Titel "Commentarius medicus in processus criminales supra homicidio infanticidio et embryotomia" 1787 erschienen in welcher er die von ihm gelehrte Methode der Lungenprobe zur Constatirung des verbrecherischen Todes von Neugeborenen mitgetheilt und mit derselben einen äußerst wichtigen Beitrag zur forensischen Medicin geliefert hat . Außerdem hat Ploucquet zahlreiche kleinere medicinische Abhandlungen Lehrbücher und andere die verschiedensten Gebiete der Medicin und auch die Thierheilkunde betreffende Schriften veröffentlicht denen eine größere Bedeutung nicht beigelegt werden kann." Jakob Christian Gottlieb von Schaeffer " geb. 7.Jan. 1752 zu Regensburg als Sohn des Johann Gottlieb Schaeffer 1720-1795. Er bezog 1771 die Universität Altdorf und siedelte von dort später nach Strassburg über wo er im Jahre 1774 Doctorwürde erlangte. Er bildete sich dann unter den Augen seines Vaters zu Regensburg zum praktischem Arzte aus wurde 1787 zum Leibarzt des Fürsten von Thurn und Taxis ernannt und begleitete als solcher zwei Söhne desselben durch England Frankreich und Italien auf Reisen die er in Briefen welche 1794 in 2 Bänden erschienen sind beschrieben hat. Er erfreute sich in seiner Eigenschaft als fürstlicher Leibarzt und gesuchter Berather besonders in Kinderkrankheiten grosser Anerkennung in seiner Vaterstadt. Auch als Schriftsteller war er thätig. Sein Schwiegersohn der Berliner Prof. der Geburtshilfe ELIAS V. SIEBOLD führt in der Biographie Schaeffer's welche er zu dessen 50jähr. Dr.-Jubil. 25. Juli 1824 verfasst hat neben seiner Dissert.: "De Magnesia" folgende Schriften auf: "Medicinische Ortsbeschreibung der Stadt Regensburg" Regensb. 1787. A. G. ARMSTRONG: Ueber die gewöhnlichen Kinderkrankheiten Aus den Engl. 1786 - "Beschreilung und Heilart der gewöhnlichsten Kinderkrankheiten" Regensb. 1792; neue Aufl. 1803 - "Die in den Monaten Nov. und Dec. 1793 in und um Regensburg herrschenden Nervenfieber vorzüglich zur Beruhigung seiner Landsleute beschrieben" Ib. 1794 - "Krankheitsgeschichte des verewigten Prinzen Georg von Thum und Taxis oder jüngster Beitrag zu Röderer's u. W agler's Abhandlung von der Schleimkrankheit" Ib. 1795 - "Die Zeit- und Volkskrankheiten in dem J. 1806 und 1807" Ib. 1808. -. Diese Berichte hat er bis zum Jahre 1821 in HUFELAND'S Journ. fortgesetzt. In demselben erschien noch im Jahrgang 1822 von ihm eine "Beschreibung der Masern- und Scharlachepidemie welche am Schlüsse des J. 1821 bis zum April 1822 in und um Regensburg geherrscht hat." Ausserdem war er Mitarbeiter mehrerer gelehrter Zeitschriften so der früher in Jena nachher in Halle erschienenen allgemeinen Literaturzeitung und der Salzburger medicinisch-chirurgischen Zeitung.
