I find this curious as I can find no mention of a telescope of this size in 1838. The receipt mentions the lens' construction by Dollond the famous telscope manufacturers of that time. Generally in very good condition with a 1cm closed tear on the edge of one of the folds of the receipt. One of them became Governor two were Senators in Congress one a Chief Justice others associate justices and several were eminent lawyers. They grew with the growth of the country.I am not anxious to hear that Mr. H. has accepted any office which can detach him from the practice of his profession.' About 140 words. Below Abraham Bishop letter is added an autograph letter from another daughter to her sister. Letter discusses mutual family friends and deaths. Letter is incomplete with the remainder of the sheet missing. About 150 words. Letter previously folded for mailing. Stained but remains very readable. Abraham Bishhop 1763-1844 was a farmer and populist and vocal supporter of Thomas Jefferson known for his Federalist affiliations. He worked to improve the importance of education and introduced graded classrooms as well as female education.<br> unknown
