File copy rubber-stamped on the front wrapper. <br /> <br /> Based on Weidman's 1937 novel and Vera Caspary's loose adaptation. Harriet Boyd Hayward is a fashion designer who partners with Teddy Dailey whom she loves and Sam Jaffe and starts a new business dedicated to selling affordable women's dresses. A rival fashion company lead by Noble Sanders momentarily distracts Harriet but at the last minute she realizes her true devotion to Teddy and Sam. <br /> <br /> Screenwriter Polonsky was blacklisted shortly after the film's release refusing to answer questions before the House Un-American Activities Committee. <br /> <br /> White titled wrappers rubber-stamped as REVISED FIRST DRAFT CONTINUITY on the front wrapper copy No. 3 and production No. 2446.8 dated August 4 1950. His Scientific Work Includes The Proposal Of A Unified Field Theory That Brings Together The Weak Force Strong Force Electromagnetism And Gravity. Sachs Earned His Bachelors At The University Of California Los Angeles He Then Moved To Columbia University New York For Postgraduate Study. While At Columbia Sachs Was Taught By Willis Lamb And Hideki Yukawa.5 Yukawa Had Agreed To Be Sach's Thesis Advisor But Sachs Decided To Complete His Doctorate Back At Ucla. Following The Award Of His Phd In 1954 Sachs First Post-Doctoral Position Was At The New University Of California Radiation Laboratory At Both Berkeley And Livermore Which Was Run By Edward Teller And Ernest Lawrence And Was Also Home To Bryce Dewitt Who Sachs Would Later Co-Author Articles With In Physics Today. In 1956 Sachs Became A Senior Scientist At Lockheed Missiles And Space Laboratory While At Lockheed Sachs Began Developing With Solomon Schwebel A Field Theory Of Quantum Electrodynamics That Included Broken Symmetries That Did Not Require Recourse To Renormalization Or Perturbation Techniques - The "Schwebel-Sachs" Model. In 1961 He Became A Research Professor At Mcgill University; This Was Followed By A Post As Associate Professor Of Physics At Boston University 1962-1966. In 1964 While At Boston University Sachs Received An Invitation From Paul Dirac To Visit Cambridge University. Sachs Stayed In England For Three Months Where His Wife Yetty Had Family. Sachs Worked With Paul Dirac At The Department Of Applied Mathematics And Theoretical Physics Cambridge University. While Working With Dirac Sachs Also Had The Opportunity To Discuss Ideas With John G. Taylor John Polkinghorne And Graduate Students At Damtp. In 1965 Sachs Had Had A Breakthrough While At The Aspen Physics Institute Colorado. Sachs Was Able To Derive A Result For A Unified Field Theory If Quantum Mechanics Was Considered To Be A Linear Approximation For A Field Theory Of Inertia Expressed In General Relativity. Sachs Argued That The Work Of Albert Einstein And Erwin Schrödinger In General Relativity Did Not Yet Take Account Of The Inertia Of Matter Which Required Consideration Of The Mach Principle. In The Summer Of 1966 Abdus Salam Invited Sachs To Spend A Few Months At The International Centre For Theoretical Physics In Trieste Italy. During This Time Sachs Published The Details Of His Formal Structure Of Quantum Mechanics From A Generally Covariant Field Theory Of Inertia In The Italian Journal Il Nuovo Cimento. Very good condition of the volume itself with only minor signs of external wear and a small chip to the spine. The rare dustjacket with fraying and some larger chips but now protected by Mylar. Wonderfully inscribed by Sutzkever and with a little drawing on the endpaper. Extremely rare yiddish publication. Abraham Sutzkever Avrom Sutskever - July 15 1913 January 20 2010 was an acclaimed Yiddish poet. The New York Times wrote that Sutzkever was "the greatest poet of the Holocaust." Abraham Avrom Sutzkever was born on July 15 1913 in Smorgon Russian Empire now Smarhon Belarus. During World War I his family fled eastwards from the German invasion and settled in Omsk Siberia where his father Hertz Sutzkever died. Three years after the war his mother Rayne née Fainberg moved the family to Vilna where Sutzkever attended cheder. In 1930 he joined the Bee Jewish scouting movement. He married Freydke in 1939 a day before World War II. In 1941 he and his wife were sent to the Vilna Ghetto. Ordered by the Nazis to hand over important Jewish manuscripts and artworks for display in an Institute for Study of the Jewish Question to be based in Frankfurt Sutzkever and his friends hid a diary by Theodor Herzl drawings by Marc Chagall and Alexander Bogen and other treasured works behind plaster and brick walls in the ghetto. His mother and newborn son were murdered by the Nazis. On September 12 1943 he and his wife escaped to the forests and together with fellow Yiddish poet Shmerke Kaczerginsky he fought the occupying forces as a partisan. Sutzkever joined a Jewish unit under the command of Moshe Judka Rudnitski and took part in several missions before being smuggled into the Soviet Union. In July 1943 he gave a fellow partisan a notebook of his poems which reached the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee in Moscow. In March 1944 a small plane was sent to the Vilna forests to bring Sutzkever and his wife to Russia. In February 1946 he was called up as a witness at the Nuremberg Trials testifying against Franz Murer the murderer of his mother and son. After a brief sojourn in Poland and Paris he immigrated to Mandate Palestine arriving in Tel Aviv in 1947. Sutzkever has two daughters Mira and Rina. He died on January 20 2010 in Tel Aviv at the age of 96. Wikipedia hardcover
