Shlomo Yitzchaki 1040-1105 generally known by the acronym Rashi was a medieval French rabbi famed as the author of comprehensive commentaries on the Talmud and Hebrew Bible. Rashi's commentaries on the Bible especially those on the Pentateuch circulated in many different communities. In the 12th17th centuries Rashi's influence spread from French and German provinces to Spain and the east. He had a tremendous influence on Christian scholars. Interesting bookplate of David Simon Blondheim 1884-1934.
