The first edition of this scarce work.Publisher's presentation copy inscribed to the head of the title page.An interesting and detailed study on the early history of the Bishopric of Lincoln offering a compelling look at the history of religion in Lincolnshire.This volume begins in 55 B.C. with the origins of the See of Lincoln up to the year 1094 at which time the Bishop was Robert Bloet. Written by bookseller and antiquary Adam Stark who also published other works on Lincolnshire such as his 'History and Antiquities of Gainsborough'. Undated dated from Jisc from a copy held at the British Library. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally sound only with minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine label is chipped with loss. Minor marks and a little light rubbing to the cloth. Spine is a little faded. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription and stamp to the front paste down. Internally generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Good Only Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans hardcover
