This 1748 engraving presents a detailed depiction of the Israelite encampment based on interpretations by Reyherus and Lamy. The tribal banners of the Twelve Tribes of Israel were significant symbols representing each tribe's identity heritage and role within the Israelite community. These banners known as "degel" in Hebrew were used to organize the encampment of the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness as described in the Book of Numbers.
