In original cloth binding 8 ½" x 10 ¾" parts of spine are missing some damp spotting to end pages and some intermittent light spotting in text. Good copy overall. This is not a reprint but the original first edition 1 of 70 copies printed. Two title pages: one in Latin and one in Hebrew with the title inserted in German. The publication contains two books translated by J. Flesch: 1. Haye Moshe and 2. Sefer kitot miney kedem. Last page is erroneously numbered. With an introduction and a poem by the editor. The two books are addressing the Essenes their customs laws and their stories and the Decalogue and the Ten Commandments. Furthermore the book refers to and elaborates on Moshe as Biblical leader. Text in Hebrew partially in Rashi Script. Front cover loosely attached to block spine is missing. Binding with wear along edges particularly at corners. Foxing of endpapers and sporadic in block. According to tradition Katherine of Alexandria was a Christian saint and virgin who was martyred in the early fourth century at the hands of the emperor Maxentius. <br /> <br /> According to her hagiography she was both a princess and a noted scholar who became a Christian around the age of 14 converted hundreds of people to Christianity and was martyred around the age of eighteen. More than 1100 years after Catherine's martyrdom Joan of Arc identified her as one of the saints who appeared to and counseled her. Its membership is limited to 40 chosen from among those with distinguished libraries or collections or with a scholarly interest in books.
