Records the history of the first king of Spain elected in Parliament Amadeo de Saboya 1845-1890 from the House of Savoy. Written by the Spanish historian and politician Don Antonio Pirala. "After the Spanish revolution deposed Isabella II the new Cortes decided to reinstate the monarchy under a new dynasty. The Duke of Aosta was elected King as Amadeus Amadeo on 16 November 1870. He swore to uphold the constitution in Madrid on 2 January 1871. The election of the new King coincided with the assassination of General Marques de los Castillejos his main backer. After that Amadeo had to deal with difficult situations with unstable Spanish politics republican conspiracies Carlist uprisings separatism in Cuba same-party disputes fugitive governments and assassination attempts." 1808WRCAM51826Madrid 1808. Small sheet folded into a square 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches. A few small worm holes one larger at bottom left corner not affecting seal. Top portion of seal text obscured by residual wax. Good. Paper seal intended for use on Spanish government documents and letters by the King Ferdinand VII in 1808. This seal must date from the short period that Ferdinand was king in 1808 from March to May. His predecessor Charles IV had abdicated after a popular uprising and Napoléon forced Ferdinand to stand down after only two months. Ferdinand was kept prisoner in France until 1813 when he was eventually restored to the throne. He then ruled until 1833 during which time Spain lost most of its overseas colonial territories to local revolution. unknown books

Moderate soiling printer's ink in text affecting some letters and in upper and lower margins. A good copy. A rare decree issued by the Spanish Córtes in the Real Isla de Leon on Dec. 2 1810 temporarily suspending the nominations of various ecclesiastical positions both on the peninsula and overseas due to financial reasons. The decree was to be distributed to tribunals judges governors and other civil military and ecclesiastical authorities who were responsible for ensuring that the information in the decree be properly publicized. This copy as noted in a contemporary hand was to be transmitted to the archbishop and cabildo of Charcas in South America. A rare Spanish decree concerning religious appointments and the financial situation of the government from the time of Ferdinand VII's absence from the thrown due to political intrigues related to the Peninsular War. Dictionary of the Spanish Constitution designed to provide a deeper understanding of the legal phrases in the Constitution to lay people. The Spanish Constitution of 1812 only stood for two years before Ferdinand VII reinstated complete monarchical control. The Constitution was again put into place in 1820 when a coup forced Ferdinand VII to accept a more democratic form of government which ushered in the Trienio Liberal a period of three years of liberal rule in Spain. The original 1813 Cadiz decree addresses the issue of council membership both in the Iberian peninsula and in overseas holdings; this Mexican publication includes the printed date of April 1814 and the fifteenth day of that month is provided in manuscript.
