191420539London: H.W. Flatt Ilford London 1914. Ephemera. Very good overall. Interesting message on this real photo card addressed to Miss J. Vicary of Peckham London from her brother & sister Arthur & Gertie dated 29tth March 1914. They appear to be on a ship where they have just taught Sunday school to 39 children on the middle deck. They say they have had very cold weather with snow on Friday but "we haven't seen any icebergs". This is possibly a reference to their perceived safety in the wake of the Titanic disaster 2 years previously. The stamp is missing but there is a fragment of the postal stamp "Tas". The postcard was printed in London and is a real photo postcard of large iceberg. On verso split back with hand written message. Used stamped 5 1/2 x 3 3/8". One corner creased. H.W.
