With fifty-six photographs and reproductions on glossy paperstock twelve of them in colour. Includes W.S.Graham's poem 'The Voyages of Alfred Wallis' reproduced from the pages of the periodical 'Life and Letters'. A touch of light marking to the cloth. Very good indeed in somewhat chafed and chipped price-clipped dust wrapper with two noticeable areas of triangular loss from the upper edge of the rear panel and several further much smaller areas of edge-loss. Berlin's celebrated study of the naïve Cornish painter; completed shortly after Wallis' death in 1942 publication was delayed by the Second World War the book finally appearing nearly five years after it was originally typeset. The author's uncommon second book mostly neglected in her lifetime Berlin rose to unexpected literary fame when a selection of her short fiction was published as 'A Manual for Cleaning Women' in 2015 eleven years after her death. Bildfläche etwas fleckig Befestigungsspuren an den Rändern sonst gut erhalten. Altersentsprechend guter Zustand. Der Berliner Architekt Hermann Fehling 1909-1996 zeichnete für viele herausragende Bauten in West-Berlin nach 1945 verantwortlich. So etwa für das Studentendorf Schlachtensee Gebäudeensemble das Institut für Hygiene und Mikrobiologie der Freien Universität Berlin und das Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung allesamt Beispiele für die sogenannte Nachkriegsmoderne in Deutschland und heutzutage als erhaltenswerte Denkmäler eingestuft. Seit Anfang der 1960er Jahre war Hermann Fehling auch Mitglied der Akademie der Künste Berlin/West. Hier liegt eine originale Ausstellungstafel zu einem der Gebäude vor an dem Fehling mit seinem Partner Gogel gearbeitet hat. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Außenansicht vom Institut für Hygiene und Medizinische Mikrobiologie der FU Berlin. Die Ansicht zeigt einen Eingang des Gebäudes rechts ist auch die Institutsbezeichnung zu sehen. Die großformatige Tafel war höchstwahrscheinlich Teil einer Ausstellung des Architekturbüros Fehling Gogel in den 1980er Jahren. Sie zeigt das architektonische Werk noch im originalen Zustand.
