FREE UPGRADE to Courier/Priority Shipping Upon Request IN STOCK AND IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR SHIPMENT - FLAWLESS COPY BRAND NEW PRISTINE NEVER OPENED -- The Roman occupation of Britain lasted nearly 400 years and produced a wide-ranging and radical transformation of the country affecting virtually every aspect of life: town-development transport agriculture industry and lifestyle. Rome also opened Britain to the intellectual and religious diversity of the empire. Yet there is plentiful evidence in both the literary record and the ever-increasing archaeological material to show that Britain -- a late-comer to Romes empire -- often resisted external influence and imbued imported Roman ways with native characteristics. This text seeks to introduce the history of Romes involvement with Britain in a succinct but readable way providing an overview of the countrys already diverse culture before the advent of the legions; tracing the historical development of the province under Rome and how the Romans maintained their hold on it; and tackling topics such as administration development of towns and the countryside religion and art. The aim of the book is not simply to supply information but to invite the reader to ask questions and delve deeper into Romes most northerly province. -- with a bonus offer-- .
