Know all men by these presents that I John Parker of Dracut . yeoman in consideration of Three hundred --- dollars paid by the President Directors and Company Bank . do hereby give grant bargain sell and convey . certain tracts or parcels of land situate lying and being in Dracut . containing twenty-three acres bounded and described as follows viz. one piece containing ten acres and a half with a dwelling house and a barn & shop." This is followed by a lengthy holograph description of the boundaries of said parcel. And "A second piece of land adjoined to the above . contains thirteen acres" also followed by a lengthy holograph description of the boundaries. Beneath these descriptions is a printed section outlining the conditions of the loan. Signed by Parker and his wife Mercy. Witnessed by John Adams and Parker Varnum and signed a second time by Varnum as Justice of the Peace. Recorded and signed by Sam'l. Bartlett Registrar of Middlesex County. With a docket on the verso as well as a holograph quit-claim deed of 1830 signed by Joseph Chapman Cashier of Boston Bank and attested to by William Simonson Justice of the Peace. The second 12½" x 8" previous folds in quarters neat professional strengthening on the verso. "Know all men by these presents that I John Parker of Dracut in the County of Middlesex . am holden and stand firmly bound and obliged unto the President Directors and Company of the Boston Bank in the full and just sum of Six hundred dollars or their successors or assigns." Dated December 9 1803 signed by John Parker and witnessed again by Adams and Varnum. Docket on the verso. The text sets forth the penalty if Parker fails to repay the $300 "With lawful interest" within one year. John and Mercy Coburn Parker recorded their intention to marry on November 6 1784. John Parker was born about 1760. The couple had eight children between 1787 and 1802.They resided on Christian Hill hence his nickname "Christian John." The publisher produced only a very few books all issued in 1879. ~ Evident FIRST EDITION. A promotional cookbook featuring recipes that are brief if not altogether lacking in detail. The book is in service to Houghton & Dutton a dry goods specialist from Boston and the recipes are interspersed with descriptions of the shop's various departments crockery glassware millinery etc. In addition to the text descriptions there are advertisements throughout with varied typography but all hawking Houghton & Dutton. Susan G. Knight was also the author of a number of other works including one cookbook Tit-Bits How to prepare a nice dish at moderate expense Boston & New York 1865. A comparison of the two text would perhaps be of use. Some age-toning to text-block and wear to corners of some leaves. In printed yellow wrappers worn and soiled but whole. Unrecorded. Souvenir booklet and program for the exhibition of Philippoteaux' massive circular panorama Le Siége de Paris. Philippoteaux completed his original panorama in 1872 when it becamse a cause célèbre in Paris; the Boston impresario T.E. Halleck commissioned a duplicate which he put on display in Boston beginning in 1875. The current program never mentions Phiippoteaux by name leading us to wonder whether Halleck may have commissioned artisan painters to execute the facsimile. 1855813Boston 1855. <p>8vo. 235 x 140 mm. 9 ¼ x 5 ½ inches. 63 pp. Removed from pamphlet volume. Original printed wrappers missing part of paper spine a few chips to edges; with faults a good sound copy.</p><br /> <p>Established in 1792 the Boston Library's mission was to offer members a gentile setting for the reading and study of literature drama history and biography. It was one of the membership libraries that contributed greatly to the cultural life of Boston during the mid-19th century and remained an important institution until it merged with the Boston Athenaeum in 1939.  The first catalogue of the Library was published in 1797 followed by lists in 1805 1806 1815 1819 a large catalogue in 1824 and 1848 with supplements in 1844 and 1855.  </p><br /> The Supplement for 1855 includes a list of nearly 1800 volumes and adds significantly to the collection that in 1848 reached over 11000 volumes. Reflecting the goals of the institution this supplement contains mostly fiction drama poetry history and biography.  It is organized in a short-title format with shelf marks indicated. unknown books

Similar in appearance and presentation to the 1883 SKETCH BOOK of the Architectural Association of Boston perhaps intended to be a continuation of it. Most of the plates in the present set are charming sketches reproduced in albertype of late Gothic buildings of France and Spain drawn by several Boston architects.
