He was one of the first researchers to draw attention to the haloform reaction. In 1822 Serullas added potassium metal to a solution of iodine in ethanol and water to form potassium formate and iodoform called in the language of that time hydroiodide of carbon and used as an antiseptic. unknown

Title continues 'collected from authentic sources especially Arabic mss.' and t.p. has 'The sixth edition revised improved and enlarged'. Good for Age. 13 Cm x 20 Cm. xi288; 3 ex-lib. plates to front pastedown - heraldic label of Royal College of Pathologists to top outer corner small printed ex-lib label with quote to centre and a larger most recent lower centre t.p. has light tanning especially to upper outer region plustwo faint eraly stamps to top one being of the Royal Artillery College Library the other a small withdrawn stamp from H.M.Stationery Office plus what seems to be a very faint signature pp. 260-263 have diagonal tanning lines across top outer corners seemingly offset from a crease to leaf 261/2 a few tanning flecks to final page spotted and erased a few marginal pencil lines others could remain jut are easily dealt with; clearly had a fairly high quality conservation job at some time presumably early with new endpapers. Spine adjacent region relaid on dark brown cloth; corners all rubbed blind-stamped black cloth boards clean spine-ends chipped a little faded and a few light bluish marks to centre. Although general in coverage special attention is paid to blood tumours scrofula poisons and nervous diseases <br/> <br/> Henry Renshaw hardcover
