Often featuring decidedly â€œOregonâ€ booster clubs and activities such as the â€œWild Cavemenâ€ of Josephine County who dressed in â€œcavemenâ€ garb inspired by local Native American legends of pre-Columbian ancestors; the â€œLava Bearsâ€ in Bend; â€œThe Piratesâ€ in Coos Bay and others. Also detailed are the developments of hydroelectric dams in the region; the newly opened Pacific Coast Silk Mill of the Pioneer Silk Co.; the massive reclamation project in Malheur County; the Trowbridge West-Made furniture Co. and rapid growth of paper companies.
