Illustrated with numerous full page color plates of various types of Imari porcelain as well as black and white photographs . The book is divided into three distinct sections the first and containing several in depth articles beginning with "The World of Japanese Porcelain" and "The Kilns of Hizen Porcelain - Kutani" as well as discussing other regional manufacturers. Section two deals with Imari and Kakiemon porcelains for export. The third section deals with five modern potters who uphold the traditions of Imari Kakiemon Nabeshima and Kutani. First edition 3rd printing of this memoir of a Tennessee woman marrying a Japanese diplomat before World War II interned at Hot Springs and White Sulphur Springs with the Japanese diplomatic corps the horror and deprivation of living through the War in Japan and finally returning to Tennessee afterwards. This memoir was later made into the 1961 MGM film Bridge to the Sun starring Carroll Baker James Shigeta James Yagi Tetsuro Tamba and Sean Garrison.
