1958B53<p>Published only five years after the Iranian Premier Mohammad Mossadegh was removed from power in the 1953 coup organized and financed by the British and United States governments bringing the Shah into power.</p><p>This guide book was aimed at American wives accompanying their husbands and families to Iran and is a window for foreigners into life in Iran in the late 1950's and early 60's. It contains a brief bibliography of books on Iran none of which mention the recent coup a dated list of major holidays a concise dictionary and useful phrases for speaking to servants. Its list of stores in Tehran "commonly used by English speaking women" includes those where everything from pork to cosmetics to lampshades can be purchased.</p><p>Includes three indexed fold-out maps: Points of Interest Municipal Facilities Churches in Tehran; Shopping Map Tehran; and Shemiranat.</p><p>An extremely scarce ephemeral book with Stanford University Library holding the only OCLC copy.</p><p>In good overall condition with the fragile paper wrapper separated from the textblock.
