Henrey at 588 records 6 copies the one at Kew having an additional titlepage. She does not venture to attribute authorship of this translation but mentions that some authorities including Macdonald consider William Fleetwood to be the translator while other writers Arber and Watt give the credit to an Arthur Young not the noted agriculturalist. 1st Edition. This copy collates with the copy in the Kew Collection namely 11 plates bound-in plus the engraved frontis half-title. Bound in early half nineteenth century half calf with marbled boards including extra blank pages at the front and rear for notes. A short split to the front joint but a nice binding nevertheless. 9pp of hand-written notes in ink include on the first part of the extra leaves by an unknown hand from that period. Head-cap absent tail-cap partially missing bands rubbed upper joint of front board cracked for 2.5cm corners bumped. The two largest plates show tears without loss. Long manuscript note from the 19th century on front pastedown extending onto a small part of first endpaper. Bookplate from a La Rochelle library also 19th century on title page. First publication concerning the moving sphere of Pigeon and Delure who here sign the dedication to Louis XIV.
