1895174883Nashville: The assembly 1895. Pamphlet. 29p. printed double-column smallpoint staplebound 8.5x5.5 inch self-wraps with plain printed cover title. Front cover and to some extent the back was exposed to severe dust-soil. We used an artist's erasure-shavings pad to remove the worst smuts. Paperstock very toned but not badly fragile. The initial vote count for the 1894 election indicated that Evans the Republican candidate had won but the Democractic-controlled legislature declared that voter fraud had occured and negated over 23000 votes allowing Turney to win. A fascinating book that details the laws of Connecticut as of 1821 with the Declaration of Independence and The US and Connecticut Constitutions. At the time there were 13 amendments to the US Constitution. Bound in worn leather there are sections of leather worn off on front spine and rear corners worn round spine crumbling with unreadable text labels. Only one endpaper remains it has a hole and pen name "Ira Bushnell." Foxing and toning on the interior paper edges have damage no rear endpapers. This report of the committee of the Pennsylvania Senate declared that bridges erected from Zane's Island to both Virginia and Ohio obstructed the navigation of the Ohio River impacting the movement of steamboats and other boats to and from the port of Pittsburg. This was part of a case that concluded before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1855 as Pennsylvania v. Wheeling & Belmont Bridge Co. 59 U.S. 18 How. 421 commonly known as the Wheeling Bridge Case. Laws of Wisconsin Territory passed by the Legislative Assembly at the Session in February A.D. 1848 - published by Authority. This is a softcover book in used condition. All of the pages are there and firmly attached to the spine - the paper is strong but the front cover is chipped at the corners and the back cover has a large chip about half the page. The paper that used to cover the spine is gone. The pages show some dog eared corners and general use but overall this book is still complete and very useful and readable. This is a great copy for research and information but would not be considered a collector copy. We always ship in a sturdy box. H A Tenney - Madison paperback
