A luxurious large paper reissue of the finely engraved illustrations originally published in the Laplace edition of 1841. Forbes writes: "This is a deluxe limited edition evidently assembled with the aid of Edmond Paris who had become a distinguished admiral. It is a folded stiff card showing the 40 possibilities of moustache beard and sideburn possibilities and assures the consumer that it "imparts to the hair and moustache softness and brilliancy. No gentleman's dressing table complete without it." Mr. Ed Pinaud placed above competition at the Paris Exposition of 1900. On one side are the 40 beard mustache and sideburn profiles. When opened it measures 22 1/2" x 28 1/2" This side is near mint with only the slightest of stain. The obverse side is advertising Pinaud's other products those being Eau De Quinine Hair Tonic - The best Hair Restorer. A Positive Dandruff Cure; Ed Pinaud - Unsurpassed Extract Vegetal to use after shaving and Ed. Pinaud's Brillantine - Unequaled for imparting to the Hair and Moustache brilliancy and softness. The Exposition was far larger than any previously held occupying over 66 acres featuring an Avenue des Nations elaborate exhibition palaces the completed head of the Statue of Liberty and the first Exposition to feature outdoor electric lighting with massive arc lights. These images include the an updated public aquarium featuring undersea grottoes inspired by Jules Verne stories the Palais de Trocadero the Palais du Champ de Mars statue of the Republic the Galerie du Travail showing stoves weaving machines and more; as well as the statuary in the Grande Galerie Italienne. Etienne Neurdein 1832-after 1915 and his brother Louis Antonin 1840-after 1915 were intrepid traveling photographers throughout French Northern Africa particularly the Sahara and Algeria in the 1870’s and also known for portraiture and monuments photos. They were later awarded the status as official photographers of both 1889 and 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle.
