It Was However As An Observer And Especially As A Writer That Wright Gained Her Fame. Her Books Were Written About Brazil Bolivia Chile Peru And Mexico. These Volumes Were Generous Octavos Well Illustrated And Filled With Facts Gathered Chiefly From Authoritative Sources Or Confirmed By Her Own Observations. In 1895 With Her Daughter Ida Dent Wright For Her Sole Companion She Went To Mexico. Secretary Of Foreign Affairs Ignacio Mariscal And President Porfirio Díaz Were Already Her Warm Admirers And It Was To Them She Went With Her Plans. Both These Executives Furnished Her With Letters To Every Governor In Mexico And The President Ordered Not Only A Military Escort Wherever Needed But That Special Trains And Steamboat Facilities Should Be Given Her Throughout The Country. Then She Spent A Year In Thoroughly Inspecting And Studying The Country. Besides Thousands Of Miles Of Railway And Steamboat Traveling Wright And Her Daughter Went Nearly 900 Miles 1400 Km In Mountain Regions On Mules Attended By Military Escort And Penetrating Regions Where None But Indigenous Women Had Been Seen Previously. Jeremiah McLene 1767-1837 served as Ohio Secretary of State from 1808 to 1831 and represented Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1833 to 1837. He was born in Pennsylvania and is credited with having risen to the rank of major general of militia during the American Revolution. Henry Rossiter Worthington 1817-1880 was an American mechanical engineer who patented the duplex steam pump in 1859 and was a founder of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 1880. He established the Henry R. Worthington Pump Works in 1845 in Brooklyn. The Henry R. Worthington Co. was established in 1893 in New Jersey to continue the manufacturing of steam pumps and pump engines. This propoal submitted to the city of Chicago includes drawings of the Worthington vertical triple expansion high duty pumping engine as well as of Worthington pumps made for the water works in Providence St. Louis Brooklyn Nashville Memphis and Peoria. Thanks to its lively melody the song was immensely popular its million sheet-music sales being unprecedented. It is a cheerful marching song and has since been pressed into service many times including by Princeton University as a football fight song. Timothy Shay Arthur's play Ten Nights in a Barroom had Work's 1864 "Come Home Father" a dirgesome song bemoaning the demon drink: too mawkish for modern tastes but always sung at Temperance Meetings. This richly illustrated advertisement flyer for the chrysanthemum doll displays at the Hanayashiki Amusement Park in Asakusa features various scenes from famous kabuki plays First Sino-Japanese War battles and a fairy tale Momotaro Peach Boy. Human figures made out of chrysanthemum flowers were placed in various dioramas. In addition various animal and bird figures including lions peacocks and pelicans are created using the flowers.
