201586185Scottsdale AZ: Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation 2015. Presumed First Edition First printing thus. Wraps. Good. 80 pages plus covers. Decorative front cover. Illustrations some in color. Cover has slight wear and soiling. The Vision of the Frank Lloyd Wright foundation is: In the words of Frank Lloyd Wright "to make life more beautiful the world a better one for living in and to give reason rhyme and meaning to life." Its mission is stated as The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation inspires people to discover and embrace an architecture for better living through meaningful connections to nature the arts and each other. The Frank Lloyd Wright Quarterly is the membership publication of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation offering an innovative look into Wright. The contents of this issue includes Frank Lloyd Wright Quarterly Celebrates 25 Years by Dixie Legler Guerrero; Wright News in Brief & Events Wright Books & Recommended Reading; Bachman-Wilson House at Crystal Bridges: Seeking Higher Ground by Ron McCrea; Wasmuth Portfolio Continues its Appeal by Ann Zimmerman Transformations: Fisk Johnson William Wesley Perers: On his Experience and Life in Architecture; and Wright Sites Open to the Public. Dixie Legler Guerrero is a curator author and editor of the Frank Lloyd Wright Quarterly. The Bachman-Wilson House built in and originally located in Millstone in Somerset County New Jersey United States was originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1954 for Abraham Wilson and his first wife Gloria Bachman. Ms. Bachman's brother Marvin had studied with Wright at Taliesin West his home and studio in Scottsdale Arizona. In 2014 the house was acquired by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville Arkansas and has been relocated in its entirety to the museum's campus. Ron McCrea an award-winning journalist and author who served as The Capital Times' city editor for a decade. In retirement McCrea became a nationally-known expert on architect Frank Lloyd Wright. He wrote the 2012 book "Building Taliesin: Frank Lloyd Wright's Home of Love and Loss." The Wasmuth Portfolio 1910 is a two-volume folio of 100 lithographs of the work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright 1867-1959. Titled Ausgeführte Bauten und Entwürfe von Frank Lloyd Wright it was published in Germany in 1911 by the Berlin publisher Ernst Wasmuth with an accompanying monograph by Wright. It contained plans and perspectives in linework only of buildings from 1893 to 1909. It was the first publication of any of Wright's work to appear anywhere in the world as Wright had not published any of his work in his twenty previous years of activity in the United States. 500 copies reserved for American distribution burned in the Taliesin fire delaying full recognition of Wright's accomplishment in his native land for years to come. The portfolio is significant as a link between Wright's pioneering American architecture and the first generation of modernist architects in Europe. Wright toured Europe for a year from October 1909 through October 1910 partly to support the publication of the portfolio but also to experience first-hand a great deal of European architectural history. Herbert Fisk Johnson III born May 19 1958 known as Fisk is an American billionaire businessman. He is the fifth generation of his family to lead S. C. Johnson & Son Inc. of Racine Wisconsin as chairman and CEO. William Wesley Peters June 12 1912 - July 17 1991 was an American architect and engineer apprentice to and protégé of his father-in-law Frank Lloyd Wright. Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation paperback
