Paris Perrotin 1859. With engraved portrait appendix and many notes on the poems by the author. All three volumes uniformly bound in red morocco tooled in gilt and blind with marbled edges. Spines darkened extremities rubbed and labels chipped or missing moderate foxing throughout. Beranger 1780-1857 a beloved people's poet witnessed the capture of the Bastille as a schoolboy and was imprisoned twice for revolutionary activities and for the staunch Republicanism of his poems.
