Contemporary binding of full burgundy straight grain morocco with double gilt border to each cover tooled gilt bands to the spine with gilt titles in the second compartment and small gilt dots in the remaining compartments flower and leaf border decoration to the inner turn-ins. Condition good the binding has been repaired to at some point with the remains of an old worm track to the covers but not the pages new end-papers upper outer corner repaired corners hinges and spine ends rubbed gilt rubbed and dull on spine more so to the covers title worn at edges and dust marked pages slightly toned throughout with the odd couple of spots to occasional pages else contents complete and clean. Bound at the rear is "A New Version of the Psalms of David Fitted to the Tunes used in Churches by N. Brady D.D. and N. Tate Esq." This contains the text of the City's loyal address printed in blue and red and the Emperor's reply which is printed in facsimile.This demonstrates the civic role of the Corporation of London in hosting a major act of international diplomacy. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Rubbing and fading to back strip with minor losses of cloth to back strip heads and tails. Boards age toned to perimeters. " A bill to restrain the ringing of bells so as to cause a nuisance to the occupants of the dwellings in the immediate vicinity of the church." Lacking original map of area. Inside pages show yellowing and light stains due to the poor quality of paper. First few pages are missing their upper corners but not affecting the text. Some page edges tattered.
