Original color-illus. wraps finely bound-into coarse woven beige cloth. with remnants of leather spine label. 273 pp.; 58 plates 12 in color including the frontis and 2 dry-point; several bw illustrations within the text including 2 bw photographs of Renoir. Text in French. Lists of all illustrations are included. This copy is not numbered and does not appear to be one of the special 150 copies printed on Japan paper. contains two original drypoint etchings as per the contents: "La Danse a la Campagne" on page 66 and "Jeunes Filles Fleurissant Leurs Chapeaux" on page 226 which has a distinct plate impression on the reverse which is lacking on the first. Over-all a very nice copy with clear bw images and vibrancy in the color plates. Written in 15 chapters including coverage of the expositions of 1874 1876 and 1877 Renoir's atelier on Rue Saint-Georges the soiress of Madame Charpentier and so much more. Rare with both plates. H.
