Three volumes quarto pp xii 75; ii 79; iv 87 top edges gilt well illustrated with photographic plates of cones and fruiting branches two frontispieces a small hole in the margin of one page the fore-edges with foxing some foxing internally though this is mainly confined to the versos of the plates full green crushed morocco ornate gilt spines the front and rear covers titled and lined in gilt very slightly marked here and there; the spine decorations of the second volume does not quite matche the otherw and its morocco is of a lighter hue. Illustrations of New Conifers 1935 pp 10 78 bound in half green morocco and cloth in similar styles and colour but not totally matching. SCARCE. From the library of Dan E. Mayers plantsman chess-master limerick-lover and eccentric with bookplate showing his Arts & Crafts house "Lorien" in Wadhurst. W.J. Bean of the supplementary volume - "Brings the pictorial reperesentation of of conifers capable of being cultivated in this country as near completion as is reasonably possible.There is no reason to fear the Illustrations of Conifers will ever become out of date".
