Shot on location in Canada. <br/><br/>Based on the 1953 short story "Second Variety" by Philip K. Dick the story takes place in the year 2078 on a distant mining planet ravaged by a decade of war WWIII where scientists have created the perfect weapon: a self-replicating army of killing machines called "Screamers." They have continued to evolve without any human guidance and eventually seek to destroy all of life. Joe Hendricksson Weller leads a group of soldiers still alive on the mining planet Sirius 6B and decides he must negotiate a peace treaty with enemy forces.
