Chin-San-Long was born in 1892 in the Huaiyin district of Jiangsu Province. Spanning the entire course of the development of photography in China his photographic career began in 1904 at the early age of thirteen and did not cease until his passing in 1995 at the age of 104. <br> <br>Pierre Verger took up the career of journalistic photographer at the age of 30 after losing his family. Over the next 15 years he travelled four continents documenting many civilisations that would soon be effaced by progress. His destinations included Japan and China in 1934 and 1937 and the Philippines and Indochina in 1938. <br> <br>Arthur de Carvalho was an amateur photographer working in the Far East during the 1930s. He employed a moody pictorialist style in the creation of his work. <br> <br>Therese le Prat was a French photographer and artist active from the 1930s to 1966. . unknown
