At the rear are inserted 18 drawings and sketches in pencil or ink of (mostly) heads of Hymenoptera, probably by Willemse.

Belle lettre d’amitié, félicitations pour la naissance de la fille de son ami, considérations botaniques : “Vous allez donc recommencer demain votre cours de botanique. J’ai appis que vous avez augmenté votre jardin. J’espère que le surcroît de terrain vous aura inspiré quelque pitié pour les beaux vieux arbres que vous pensiez à abattre. Hélas, abattre un arbre à un certain âge où on ne peut plus espérer de voir à leur hauteur ceux qu’on leur substituerait c’est à mes yeux un crime de leze-nature. Je donnerais douze louis d’or pour avoir dans mon jardin votre ceris... Passe encore de bâtir, mais planter à cet âge ! (...) Ne m’oubliez pas auprès des savants que j’ai l’avantage de connaître, MM. Duvernoy, Lauth, Schweighaeuser, Fargeaud, Böckel, Lachenmeyer, etc. Je vous embrasse et salue en Linée...” Nestler était professeur de botanique et de pharmacie à Strasbourg, il a beaucoup contribué à augmenter les collections du jardin botanique de cette ville.- Lettre autographe signée datée de Nancy le 4 octobre 1834. 4 pp. petit in-4. Il demande à son correspondant de lui fournir des livres d’entomologie, il mentionne feu son ami le prof. Nestler qui se chargeait auparavant de lui procurer ce type d’ouvrage. Il souhaite se procurer les livres de MM. Panzer, Sturne et un livre sur les punaises. Lettre probablement adressée à M. Silbermann.- LAS avec adresse adressée à M. Silbermann à Strasbourg, datée de Nancy le 7 juillet 1835, cachet postal à la même date, 2 pp. petit in-4. Au sujet du paiement de livres qu’il a commandés ainsi que de son abonnement à la Revue Entomologique. Gustave Silbermann (1801-1876) était un imprimeur et entomologiste strasbourgeois, membre de la Soc. Botanique de France. Il était l’éditeur de la Revue Entomologique qu’il avait fondée en 1833.- LAS adressée au même de Nancy, 20 juillet 1835, adresse et cachet, 2 pp. petit in-4. Lettre de remerciement pour le renouvellement de son abonnement à la Revue Entomologique qu’il découvre à son retour d’un voyage géognostique dans la Meuse.

Contents good and clean.Contains descriptive catalogues of the Bombycine moths, and of the Noctuidae found within 50 miles of New York City, two papers on Sesiidae (following his monograph of the North American species), a revision of Euchloe, and of Melittia, and three other papers. Many new taxa are described and figured in this set of papers from the Museum's Bulletin.
