1923tex 1258
The 1923 school yearbook for the Miss Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas Texas. A very prestigious boarding prep school that is still around today. There were 22 seniors that year. I'm sure all of the young ladies went on to become prominent members of their respective communities. The book belonged to Mabel Mears of Menard Texas who later married Joseph Vanderstudken of Sonora. Together they were big ranchers and strong community leaders and philanthropists. The book is signed by Sarah Trent to whom the book is dedicated. All 22 of the seniors have signed the book. The book is hand sewn and is literally coming apart at the seams but it's still all together. Plenty of shelf wear on this 100 year old book but the pages are all clean and the art work is great.
Hockaday School paperback

Former owner's signature at top corner of endpaper. Paul Leroy Holmer retired from a teaching career that spanned 40 years a career that left its mark upon pastors philosophers seminaries and churches across the land. The distinctiveness of Holmer's legacy lies in a sustained Kierkegaardian critique of contemporary religiosity which takes both theological and ecclesiastical establishments within its purview. At the same time he has labored to overcome contemporary suspicion of Christian beliefs created by modem scientific and philosophical conundrums.
