19579802Morecombe: Printed by Boro Advertiser Morecombe c1957. A very pleasingly illustrated product catalogue produced by the Devonshire School of Lettering in Morecombe c1955. The school acted as both an educational institution and a supplier to the trade and the contents provide a snapshot of mid 20th century commercial art history in an era before the introduction of digital or vinyl printing when every shop sign price card and advertisement was hand painted and these trades were in high demand. The cover and illustrations within are in themselves a piece of art history showcasing art deco and Victorian influences. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Card wrappers in good condition illustrated in blue and black and stapled to spine. Staples rusted; wrappers age toned; binding sound. A combination of colour and b/w illustrations of the supplier's product lines alongside written descriptions fill the 38 leaves to verso and recto. Contents clean and unmarked; upper wrapper bumped to tail. Laid in are full price lists dated January 1955 and November 1957 and 2 hand written lists of types of wood.
