FIRST EDITION INSCRIBED AND AUTOGRAPHED. The publisher writes that he has long been aware of the exquisite work of Lucien Clergue and confesses that initially it was the photographer's remarkable nudes that captured his attention. But as he became familiar with the great sweep of Clergue's life's work that he grew even more respectful of the elegance sensuality and tireless inventive artistry that inform his camera's every frame. The photographer maintained an unwavering commitment to photography as a fine art medium. He remained an independent eye an artist's artist. Little more need be said when one's first collector's and employer's were Jean Cocteau and Max Ernst. Louis Stern Fine Arts hardcover
