Albert Fournier offers lively sketches of professions ranging from clock winder oyster shucker and water taster to organ grinder viper hunter and booksellers of the Seine quays. The text is enriched by eight previously unpublished photographs by Robert Doisneau whose images capture the atmosphere of a vanishing Paris.
