The colored lithographic frontispiece is entitled "Thèorie de la Couleur". <br /> <br /> Although not a member to the noted family of printers and publishers and auctioneers Frédéric Goupil was a notable member of the French art world and a student of Horace Vernet the noted Orientalist. Goupil accompanied Vernet on a trip to the Middle East in 1839 - 1840 and was recognized for his colored lithographs and the use of the daguerreotype which illustrated Vernet travel account. </p> . Il fut exclus et réintégré de la faculté à plusieurs reprises en raison de son attitude contre le catholicisme. Il fut l'élève de Jacques Dubois (1478-1555), Jacques Goupil (1525?-1564?) et Louis Duret (1527-1586). P.S., 31 décembre 1586, 1p in-4 oblong. Sur parchemin. Reçu pour le paiement de ses gages.
