Hoppé</strong> viaggiò in lungo e in largo per la <strong>Germania</strong> registrando persone e luoghi in uno dei periodi più tumultuosi della storia del paese. Fotografò star del cinema e capitani d'industria operai e contadini e catturò la nascita dell'Autobahn e gli studi cinematografici UFA nel loro periodo d'oro. Vide l'ascesa del fascismo la creazione di nuove vaste periferie e lo spostamento delle persone dai loro modi di vita tradizionali. Con un accesso senza precedenti alle fabbriche e agli impianti industriali di fama mondiale del paese fu testimone della Germania come pochi altri potevano fare: a capofitto nell'ignoto. Commovente perspicace e profondamente rivelatore il pieno significato del lavoro tedesco di Hoppé è stato sconosciuto fino ad ora. Questo volume combina le fotografie pubblicate nel leggendario libro di Hoppé del 1930 Deutsche Arbeit con molte nuove immagini mai viste prima.
