br. Tenera melanconia, tramonti, ricordi. Un passato bellissimo vissuto in un mondo scomparso, quello delle Colonie. Un'epoca lontana vista con infinita nostalgia dagli occhi di una donna. Anni trascorsi in paesi stupendi come erano allora: Etiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Somalia. In "Maldafrica" tutto è reale ma una verità ne sovrasta ogni altra: per quanti danni l'uomo possa fare alla terra non riuscirà mai a rovinare un tramonto forse perché il sole che scompare ha un significato ben più profondo di una semplice giornata che finisce. Nel racconto il tramonto si identifica con la vita che scappa e se ne va, scivolando tra le dita di una ragazza, come la sabbia rosa che raccoglieva sulle spiagge delle isole Bajuni. Gioie, dolori, emozioni, vittorie, sconfitte, malattie, amori, come nella pellicola di un vecchio film, lentamente si sfuocano e finiscono per scomparire. Piccola come un fotogramma, la scintilla di speranza è nascosta in quel tramonto che di ogni giornata è il momento più bello ma inevitabilmente diventa anche il più triste.
