Incisione a bulino, b/n, tiratura del XVIII secolo (1750 circa), cm 21,6 x 29,1 (alla lastra). Dall'opera “Venationes Ferarum, Avium, Piscium…” (1578 circa) con i soggetti di Jan van der Straet, conosciuto come Johannes Stradano, (Bruges, 1523 – Firenze, 1605) e incisa da Philip Galle ad Anversa tra il 1578 ed il 1596. Ispirate ai disegni dei cartoni per arazzi con le Cacce, progettate da Giorgio Vasari secondo i desideri di Cosimo I de' Medici per arredare venti stanze della Villa di Poggio a Caiano, le incisioni sono raggruppate per argomenti suddivisi in tre categorie: caccia agli animali terrestri, d'aria e d'acqua. Ricordiamo che la passione per la caccia è sempre stata una caratteristica dei componenti della famiglia Medici, compresi Lorenzo il Magnifico ed il granduca Cosimo I. Le incisioni mostrano un gusto per la varietà degli scorci, dei paesaggi, dei motivi decorativi derivati dalla cultura manierista dello Stradano, interessata a descrivere il meraviglioso, il bizzarro, i corpi descritti in posizioni serpentinate, attorcigliate, sempre scultoree. Il gusto dello Stradano per la descrizione dei paesaggi, degli animali dalle forme più bizzarre, per i modi cacciare più astuti o coraggiosi sempre ci mostrano gustose scene in cui l’uomo, con la sua intelligenza, plasma gli animali e la natura stessa ai suoi bisogni. Esemplare successivo al primo stato su quattro (quello senza la numerazione, qui n. 78), stampato su sottile carta della fine del XVI secolo, vergellata e recante filigrana. Esemplare rifilato ai margini della parte incisa e perciò privo dell’impronta della lastra. Esemplare uniformemente ingiallito e con alcuni difetti marginali.

Les premiers écrits concernant cette chasse remontent au XVIIe siècle. Un temps interdite, cette pratique est à nouveau autorisée par l'arrêté du 15.06.2003 modifié en 2005 mais avec un miroir dépourvu de facette réfléchissante. On y trouve tout ce qui concerne l'oiseau ainsi que sa chasse bien spécifique, sa technique qui peut également s'appliquer à d'autres oiseaux. Réimpression d'un texte rare de 1866. At Teffe, the author compares the conditions to where Bates (The Naturalist on the Rivers Amazon) spent several years starting in 1855.
